The Modern Olympics are very special to people to all around the world and has a different one every 2 years, the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics. Many people say that their favorite winter Olympic sport is Alpine Skiing. The Olympics are nice because the Modern Olympics stay great, and because watching alpine skiing obtains people’s attention. First, the Modern Olympics remain to be great. For example, after thousands of years since the last Olympics, the first Modern Olympic Games was held on April 6, 1896. This shows that even thought they are old they can still be enjoyed (Gettings 1). Also, the first Modern Olympics was held in Athens, Greece, in the same country where it used to be held. The tradition is being brought back to life again (Gettings 1). Likewise, the Olympic Games were created to bring peace to the world by bringing everyone together. The Olympics are competition but they have peace in mind (Chevron Cars 1). All of these facts show us the history and culture of the Modern Olympic Games. Second, many people like alpine skiing. For instance, although the Americans are good at skiing, the U.S. has rivals, the Austrians; the Austrians are good skiers because they live on the Alps. Even other countries enjoy skiing (Marshall 1). Also, The U.S has an 80% chance of getting a gold medal in skiing. Americans are very talented at skiing (Marshall 1). Likewise, an Italian has the record for the fastest downhill ski at 156.2 MPH. Skiing is very exciting and fast paced (Super Tight Stuff). All of these examples show that skiing is a very popular sport around the world. In conclusion, the Olympics are a very sacred event because the Modern Olympics stays cultured, and because skiing remains a great sport around the world.
